    Hey all,

I’m headed to Lake Powell in a couple of weeks, and I’m wondering if anybody out there has any experience they can share about using ham radios on the lake, and using the Marine band for communicating between boats on the lake, or communicating with boats from shore.

Do you use a repeater on the lake? How well does the marine band work? What kind of power do you need to be heard? How well do radios work if one of the boats is in a side/slot canyon? What kind of range do you get? Is there a time that you monitor a wilderness protocol frequency or the marine bands?

Any help/experience you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
