The 2013 HOMM is over and was an awesome oportunity for operators to use their skills.

The 1/2 trail marathon was run from butterfield canyon road over the top of butterfield peak and down to butterfield park through rose canyon. This race took place on Friday June 14th.  One of our local HAMs, Heidi (KC7OXP) ran this race and wrote about her experience here.  Way to go Heidi.  Also thanks to Jon (KZ1G) for being net control for this race.

Saturday was a very busy day for the club members while getting a booth ready for Herriman days and supporting the full marathon at the same time.  Thanks to Jasen (K7KKY) for being net control on this race.  Club members came together and made it all happen.

Aaron, the race official, sent me the following email I thought I would share:

One of our Oquirrhman challenge women stopped me on saturday after her 40 mile weekend and said my favorite moment of the entire weekend was summiting butterfield peak where she saw you take a picture lower your camera and say something like "how beatiful" it gave her chills to see your humility and awe at the beauty you were experiencing and she said it made her pause and realize where she was at and take it all in ... a moment that will not soon be forgotten for her.

BTW - A huge thanks to you and your team. You do such an amazing job with communications. Our events are good, but when we have HARC there they are better. You make us better directors, the athletes are better taken care of, and we are extremely grateful!

Best,
Aaron
