  • Elections Continued

We are still looking for a Vice President and a Secretary. If you know anyone who would be good at these positions please consider nominating them. Or if you would like to nominate yourself, that would be fine, too!

  • Track Meet

Heidi Vawdrey volunteers with the Jordan Education Foundation, the nonprofit fundraising arm of the Jordan School District. They raise money to provide classroom grants for teachers to be able to provide curriculum beyond what their meager budget allows. One of their events each year is an obstacle course race. It has grown each year. Last year, they had over 500 runners, and they're hoping for 1000 this year. It will be held Saturday, May 19th, at 9 a.m. They were discussing at our committee meeting today how to make it safer and be able to communicate between race staff more efficiently, and I suggested amateur radio. Heidi is a ham herself - KC7OXP - and will be providing the medical coverage for the event. They'd like to have 6-8 hams sprinkled throughout the course to help relay any emergency information. The course is at the West Jordan City park and most of the obstacles are located inside the rodeo ground area. They would need volunteers to be there a bit early, between 8 and 8:30 a.m., and we would wrap up by 10:30 or so. If your interested in this, please email Heidi directly.

  • Safety

Finally, Julian Chavez (KG7GGL) will be conducting our 10:00 am training. He will be discussing safety. Julian is very well rounded on the topic. We look forward to seeing you there.
