Tech License Session Starts August 13

A 3-session ham-radio prep class for the Technician license starts on Thursday, July 30 and continues on August 6 and 13. Location: the YM room of the LDS EagleCrest Church Building, 14919 South Eagle Crest Drive, Draper, Utah, 84020. Classes run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm each evening. The class prepares student to take the FCC Exam for the Technician license, but it doesn't include an FCC-exam session. Five days later Steve Whitehead, NV7V, will give the Technician-class exam at the BYU Law Library. Students will get exam-schedule information during the class sessions. There's no charge to take the course. As of 2007, the Federal Communication Commission no longer requires knowledge of Morse code to qualify for a ham-radio license.

Instructor Noji Ratzlaff, KN0JI, of Orem, uses the hamstudy.org website information for his curriculum.  Students must register for a free account at hamstudy.org as part of the study.
